This season at Trustus Theatre we are approaching the upcoming year with our eyes open. As an organization, Trustus values diversity in our programming and we intend to stay vigilant in regards to social justice, cultural exploration, and examining what it is to be human in the 21st Century. With open eyes we can embrace new ways of seeing ourselves, others, and the world. We can expand how we view possibilities and issues that affect us daily in our community. With our eyes open we can see with more clarity, and finally notice the things we sometimes ignore. We can be more observant of what is, while being more open to what might be.
We’re also keeping our eyes open as we look to the future of our organization. With the addition of new staff members, our theatre is growing. While we will produce important works in both of our theatres on Lady Street, we will be moving beyond the walls of our space to engage more frequently with our community – to bring the power of theatre to those who are seeking its magic.
Theatre shares a lineage of storytelling that started with humans gathered around fires, exploring the reality of the human condition through fiction. We look forward to gathering with you around the glow of our stage lights as we continue to be one of South Carolina’s most influential theatres – sharing stories that open our minds, open our hearts, and open our eyes.
