History

SINCE 1985

Founded in 1985 by Kay and Jim Thigpen in a modest second-floor walk-up space, Trustus Theatre has blossomed into a thriving enterprise over the span of four decades. Today, nestled in the vibrant Congaree Vista of Columbia, South Carolina, Trustus stands as a cornerstone of artistic innovation and excellence. Its new home on Lady Street showcases two distinctive performance venues: the Thigpen Main Stage, accommodating 132 guests, and the intimate Trustus Side Door Theatre, offering seating for 50. Since its inception, Trustus has remained steadfast in its commitment to presenting cutting-edge, original productions, catering to a discerning audience hungry for professional theatre experiences set in an atmosphere both cozy and distinctive.
