It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs such as the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing. Five performers present an evening of rowdy, raunchy, and humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era and reflect Waller’s view of life as a journey meant for pleasure and play.

Auditions for Ain’t Misbehavin’ will be held Sunday and Monday, September 15th and 16th at Trustus Theatre. The character list is as follows:

André: An unrepentant party hound. A flirt and a bit of a womanizer. Male, 25 to 45, Vocal range G2-E6.

Armelia: A voluptuous and sassy woman. Very strong-willed and not afraid to share her thoughts. Female, 25 to 45, Vocal range G3-C6.

Charlaine: A sweet, young lady. Very innocent. Female, 18 to 25, Vocal range G3-G5.

Ken: Jovial, cheerful, and loud. Larger than life. Male, 25 to 45, Vocal range D3-C6.

Nell: Confident and charming. A knowledgeable woman of the world. Female, 30 to 45, Vocal range F3-F5.
