Formerly the African-American Acting Workshop The African American Acting Workshop evolved from a commitment by Trustus that reflects the theatre's belief that works by minority playwrights has tremendous value in a culturally diverse society. The staff of Trustus felt strongly that there needed to be more opportunities for Multi-Ethnic actors in the Midlands; that to stage important contemporary works about the multi-ethnic actors who possess the professional level skills necessary; and that the development of these skills would enable the theatre to present more works with racial and ethnic themes. Trustus would also be reinforcing its mission of attracting a greater Multi-Ethnic audience. The development of this program has aided not only Trustus, but all the theatres throughout the midlands. Trustus has reorganized the workshop to include another segment of our population that has been expanding rapidly in recent years - the Hispanic and Asian populations. Interviews for this year's class will be held i n January of 2008. This year, Trustus will be holding 2 classes: a Beginner's Class and an Intermediate Class. The Intermediate Class is open to participants who have completed the Beginner's Class. Jocelyn Sanders will be the instructor.
